Skin FAQs

I have eczema. Will TLC Cosmetics™ work for my skin condition?

Absolutely! We have carefully selected a custom blend of high quality organic butters and carrier oils which treat eczema skin conditions. Shea butter is one of our main ingredients and is well known for its an anti-inflammatory properties.

The plant esters of shea butter have been found to have anti-inflammatory properties. When applied to the skin, shea triggers cytokines and other inflammatory cells to slow their production.

What this means is that it helps minimize irritation of inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis, as well as arthritis and inflammation of the joints & bones.

I have extremely dry skin. Which products  should I use?

Our traditional whipped body butter is a great moisturizer for dry and thirsty skin. We love shea butter as a base ingredient for its many benefits and versatility in treating multiple skin conditions.

Shea butter has excellent moisturizing properties. When applied to the skin, it melts on contact & rapidly absorbs into the skin. The oils act as a “re-fatting” agent, restoring lipids and rapidly creating moisture, therefore reducing dryness.

I am of lighter to fair skin complexion. Is TLC Cosmetics™ right for me?

Of course! Our products are geared towards achieving and maintaining healthy skin for all complexions and ethnicities. All of our ingredients are safe for all skin types and complexions & doesn’t contain chemical irritants known to dry out the skin.

How can I get rid of stubborn acne & blemishes?

Shea butter is rich in different kinds of fatty acids. This unique composition helps clear your skin of excess oil (sebum). At the same time, shea butter restores moisture to your skin and locks it in to the epidermis, so your skin doesn’t dry out or feel “stripped” of oil.

We also include jojoba oil in our recipes. Jojoba oil mimics our skins’s natural sebum. The result is a restoration of the natural balance of oils in your skin, which may help stop acne and blemishes before it starts.

 How often should I exfoliate?

We recommend exfoliating no more than three times a week. Exfoliating too frequently and too often can irritate the surface of the skin.

What products are great for oily skin?

Ever heard the saying “fighting fire with fire”? Your skin over produces sebum when there is a lack of oil. To ensure you skin is not over producing oil, use a moisturizer. You can fight “fire with fire” by using a lightweight, quick absorbing oil. Jojoba oil as a key ingredient is great for oily skin.

Our products have the amazing capability of versatility. Our hair serum can be used on the scalp, as well as the face because it is as light as a feather.

When will I see results?

As with anything in life, consistency and commitment is the secret ingredient for success. The skin has a life cycle of 28 days. While our products provide instant conditioning and skin softening results, skin conditions such as acne, scarring, and blemishes can take up to 28 days to see results.
